The Blue Building was pleased to host Marcia Huyer Negotiating +/–. An ambitious, single-work installation, Negotiating +/– was Huyer’s first collaboration with TBB. The exhibition opened Saturday 03 May and remained on view until Saturday 14 June 2025.

Marcia Huyer is an artist currently living and working on the island, Ktaqmkuk / Newfoundland in Corner Brook. Huyer's work has bene shown in festivals and public institutions across Canada. Past exhibitions include the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (Victoria, BC); Eastern Edge (St.John's, NL); Artcite (Windsor, ON); and ODD Gallery (Dawson City, YK). Huyer has participated in several art festivals such as Nuit Blanche (Toronto, ON); CAFKA 07 and CAFKA 18 (Kitchener, ON); in/future Art Festival (Toronto, ON); and the Bonavista Biennale 2021 (Bonavista, NL).

Negotiating +/– consists of up to 150 plastics bags which are inflated in sequences choreographed by the artist. Each bag is powered by an Arduino programmed fan, activating the spaces Negotiating +/– inhabits with deeply satisfying movement, sound and an evocative impression of breath and bodies.
